One day Jim was riding his bicycle up a hill.
“God I hope the sun doesn’t blow up until I get to the top of the hill.”
He peddled hard as his bicycle swayed back-and-forth from his leg pumping.
He looked up at the sky, sweat dripping from his head as his thighs
began to cramp.
“God I hope the sun doesn’t blow up until I get to the top of the hill.
Now he was within 40 yards of the hill top
as he used every ounce of energy
he had left to focus on his goal.
Then 20 yards.
Then 10.
Finally he as at the top of the hill.
Then the sun blew up.
It was the happiest day of Jim’s life.
Jim began his touchdown dance on the top of the hill.
Happiness oozing from of every pore of his body
as the solar system and life as we know it was rapidly
coming to an end around him.
Jim was too happy to notice that someone had stolen his bicycle.
